Salisbury Jefferson Cup, 7oz. jewelry gifting Style#: MF007743The history behind the famous Jefferson cup: Thomas Jeffersons friend and teacher, George Wythe, passed away in 1806, willing him two silver cups . Preferring a more modern style, he set out to have them redesigned. So he sent them off to Virginia silversmith, John Letelier, instructing him to melt the cups and remake them into a more popular tumbler design.
