The form dates back to the Iron Age, but this one dates to the Victorian Era, around 1880. They were very useful as closures for cloaks and plaids, but also very beautiful. This wonderful Scottish Victorian version of a peninsular brooch is set with lovely smooth agate stones, most likely mined in the Scottish highlands, and accented with a bright citrine faceted and set to mimic the iconic Scottish
