Georgian Cupid "Without Sound" Rock Crystal Intaglio Seal Arts & Crafts as stud earringsDATE: Georgian, c. 1780 A fantastic Georgian rock crystal seal, with an intaglio carving in the base. It's carved to depict cupid carrying a lantern with the words "SANS BRUIT", which translates as "noiselessly" or "without a sound". Presumably the sentiment is something along the lines of "you can't hear love coming", or "love is silent". It's in great condition and dates from the Georgian period, circa 1780. STONES Rock Crystal MEASUREMENTS 2 x 1.
