A chemisette or guimpe would have been worn beneath a jacket or cardigan to give the appearance of wearing a blouse. This one has a front of cream cotton lace, a V neckline bound with ribbon and five plastic buttons at the front as trim. There are rows of tucks in the lace. The back is plain calico. The lower front is a double layer of cotton organdy. It
