Museums

Our region is littered with courthouses, homes and buildings that tell the rich tale of American life. This authentic history is enshrined in numerous museums that help you soak in the experience of Virginia’s Crossroads. The Appomattox Court House and National Historic Park, the site of the confederate surrender that ended the Civil War, is one of the most popular attractions. To see into the daily life of the civil war soldiers, both on the battlefield and the home front, check out The Pamplin Historical Park and The National Museum of the Civil War Soldier. Take a further look into our past at the Red Hill and the Patrick Henry National Memorial to view the post-Revolutionary War life of one of our nation’s greatest leaders. For a more recent snapshot of our past, visit The Robert Russa Moton Museum.
