The Appomattox County Historical Museum is located in Courthouse Square in the town of Appomattox. Beginning in 1897, it was the 3rd jail built in Appomattox County until May 1981 when the Historical Society transformed the building into a museum housing many artifacts related to the Civil War and Appomattox County history.

The Historic Village at Lee Wayside is a historic stagecoach stop and the campsite of Robert E. Lee after his surrender in Appomattox. The Village contains nine 100-year-old buildings including a school, post office, privy, slate office, and more. The Village is open April through December and holds festivals throughout the year.
